After reading "Renowned author Dan Brown staggered through his formulaic opening sentence" last night I was inspired to write the Dan Brown Novel Kickstarter and here it is. Click the button and get a suitably formulaic opening line e.g. "Talentless hack Dan Brown reeled effortlessly from one best seller to the next", write a lot of very short chapters to artificially introduce tension and fill them with unlikely coincidences to do with some sort of secret society and you're on to a winner. Well it worked for Dan Brown anyway.
